60th Anniversary of the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee

March 6th - 9th, 2025

Selma, Alabama, and the surrounding Black Belt region were central to the Voting Rights Movement. Key organizations like SNCC, SCLC, churches, and labor groups joined forces to drive the cause forward. The Jubilee commemorates “Bloody Sunday,” March 7, 1965, when peaceful protesters marching for voting rights faced brutal violence at the Edmund Pettus Bridge—an event that galvanized national support. Two weeks later, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led thousands in a historic march from Selma to Montgomery, paving the way for the Voting Rights Act. The Bridge Crossing Jubilee honors these events annually with a commemorative march and vibrant activities, marking this 60th anniversary as especially significant.
